Supportive Communities and Better Health
Beam’s thanks go to Staffordshire County Council and The Community Foundation of Staffordshire. Through a grant awarded by Supportive Communities and Better Health program Beam is now able embark on a new project which has evolved from our previous work which addressed those problems associated with loneliness and isolation.
This new project will allow beam to develop this program of work in the following way: –
- Our people tell us they want to know more about how to stay healthy and importantly
how to access local health care services. It’s a bit of a mystery for most people how it all works; we will invite the experts in to unravel this. - We will take people to places where they can exercise in the open air.
- Beam has recently started a small gardening club. We would like our client to develop a better
understanding of where food comes from and how to cook healthily at home. - We have started and arts and crafts group with tutor support. Beam will provide exhibition space
to display the items people produce. This has a significant impact in stimulating positive mental
health. - Beam has a suite of laptops that will be used to help people develop IT skills. Housing applications and utility accounts are great form filing examples of a construct which by design excludes people with Learning disabilities.
