Our Projects

We have lots of new things going on here at Beam we’d like to tell you about.

Newstart4U – an employment and volunteering support project

Beam is a delivery partner for Newstart4U, a new employment and volunteering support project. We can now offer bespoke one-to-one guidance for people with learning disabilities who would like help finding a job or becoming a volunteer. Every Monday morning Beam hosts a support hub where people can come along, meet the team and get involved in looking at opportunities that are available to them.

Training Courses

Through the spring and summer Beam is going to running a number of training courses. The first one of these has been designed to help people improve their independent living skills. The course will help you: –

  • To develop numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Learn about budgeting in the kitchen and understanding food labels in the shops.
  • To develop home cooking skills.
  • Develop a healthy diet.

Fuel Poverty

We all need to make sure that we are using the gas and electricity is our homes as efficiently as possible and we all need to make sure that we are on the best possible deal. If you need support with ensuring that you are doing both of these and have an on-line energy account that you can use and understand, beam can support you with this.

New Clubs

Beam is most pleased to say that plans are in place to start a couple of new clubs. We have a gardening club and arts and crafts club beginning to take shape. We also are considering setting up a woman’s group. At the moment places on these groups are limited but please call the office if you are interested in finding out more.
